Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the nearest Shop?

Penrhyn-coch garage and well-equipped shop and Post Office (5 miles).

Where is the nearest pub, restaurant or bar?

Taly Bont White Lion (6 miles).

I heard there was a Farmers Market?

Aberystwyth Farmers Market held twice a month on Saturdays.

Where is the nearest A&E?

Bronglais Hospital, located in Aberystwyth, serves the area. Please note that Aim Wild has limited mobile signal and is not recommended as a retreat for individuals with underlying health conditions due to restricted access to emergency services.

Do you accept pets?

No pets, I’m afraid, are permitted to protect the local wildlife and preserve the natural balance of the surrounding environment. The area is home to sensitive ecosystems, including rare plants and animals, which could be disturbed by the presence of pets. This ensures that visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature while minimising their impact on the wildlife.

Where do we get firewood?

We do not currently charge for firewood, but please be mindful not to waste it. We use our own three-year-seasoned wood, which is felled, logged, and dried on-site. To date, we have planted over 500 trees on the farm.

Can we use fireworks, lanterns or similar?

Fireworks, Chinese lanterns, and similar items are not permitted due to the significant fire risk they pose to the surrounding natural environment and the potential for littering. The area is highly susceptible to fires, especially during dry periods, and these items can easily ignite vegetation, endangering wildlife and property. Additionally, discarded fireworks and lanterns contribute to litter, which can harm wildlife and degrade the natural beauty of the area.

Do you have WiFi?

The Wi-Fi is intermittent and should not be relied upon. Phone signal is unavailable in the barn or house so you will need to go up the hill for reception.

How do I get there?

Full directions for access will be emailed to you after completing your booking.

Please note that you will need a high-wheel vehicle and should be comfortable driving along tracks and through a river that turns into a ford. It is not advisable to arrive after dark on your first visit unless you arrange for one of us to meet you on arrival and guide you.

The local taxi firm can collect you from Bow Street or Aberystwyth, but this needs to be booked 24 hours in advance. If you do not have a high-wheel vehicle, we can arrange for you to be picked up and taken to the barn, but please note that returning to the car will require a 40-minute walk.

How do I get there without a car? Plane, Rail & Bus connections

Birmingham is the nearest airport. The nearest train station is Bow Street (three hours by train from Birmingham). Bus connections are limited.

Is there Walking or Biking on site?

The barn is ideal for walkers. You can walk to Borth or up into the foothills of Pumlumon.

What is the water supply?

The barn is supplied with mains water, which is safe to drink.

Do supermarkets or eateries deliver to the barn?

Due to the barn's remote location, deliveries cannot be made. Unfortunately, there is no service from Deliveroo or Uber Eats here. We highly recommend that all food is bought before arrival.

How do I wash my clothes?

By hand, there are no laundry facilities on site.
